About

Well hello there!
I'm thrilled to have you here.

My name is Patty.

I like to think a blog should be like a party. Sure its about me, but I really want it to be for YOU the reader. When you throw a party there is a reason and purpose for it, it has a goal. You want to make sure your guest's feel welcome, comfortable, and that they have a good time. My goal in this space is that you will leave her feeling inspired and encouraged to become the woman God wants you to be, whatever your state in life is.

I want this to be a comfortable place where the messy grace of life can be shared and reflected upon. I believe in the life-giving power of story, in the beauty of vulnerability, and in the strength that is found in weakness. I hope you find things here that fill your tank and empower you to use your story to make a difference in the lives of others.

Growing up, I kept quite the assortment of diaries and journals.  This space is kind of like my journal, only no tween hormonal angst. Here at A Modern Grace I write about all sorts of things: food (hence my relationship with Weight Watchers), running, working in ministrybeing Catholic, goings on in the culture today, and paying off all my debt.

A bit about me?
Born and raised Midwestern gal in the mitten state. I'm a runner, writer, former know-it-all, and Youth Minister ordinaire. I am a loud, sometimes sassy ENFJ who loves good books, tattoos, and old movies. I also really like Dave Ramsey. Well most of the time anyway ;)

I was married for 3 1/2 years. After much prayer and counsel, I am now divorced. I completed the annulment process and in January 2017 learned my annulment went through. It is the hardest thing I ever done. But God has and continues to do amazing things amidst it all.

When life is sweet, you say thank you and celebrate. And when life is bitter, still say thank you and grow.

Currently I am working to pay off all my debt, training for my first marathon, and learning to find grace in all things.

Why A Modern Grace?

I'm thrilled you asked.

  3. I love your dress! I just found your blog from another one and I love it! I'm looking at starting a blog, and also have started doing bible studies to help me understand the bible because I was raised not really knowing much about God or the bible.
