About

Welcome, welcome!

I'm Patty.

A born and raised Midwestern gal from the mitten state. I'm a beloved daughter of God, runnerwriter, former know-it-all, and have worked in parish ministry for over ten years. I love good books, salsa dancing in my kitchen, old movies, laughing so hard till I snort, and strong cups of coffee with my Bible. I'm obsessed with the Holy Spirit, Thomas Merton, podcasts, and Ignatian spirituality.

My passions in ministry include: ecumenism, living in the power of the Holy Spirit, ministry to divorced Catholics, and women whose relationships have been impacted by sexual addiction.

I am devotion writer for Blessed Is She and my life has been blessed by the beautiful sisterhood of this sweet community. I have been published in America Magazine and FemCatholic. I am also a regular contributor at the CatholicMatch InstituteVerily, and Grotto Network.

I was married for almost 4 years. I am now divorced and in 2017 I received an annulment. It is the hardest thing I ever done. When life is sweet, you say thank you and celebrate. And when life is bitter, still say thank you and grow. My life has turned out nothing like I originally planned, but I have learned more about myself than I ever dreamed.

I believe in the life-giving power of story, in the beauty of vulnerability, and in the strength that is found in weakness. I hope you find things here that fill your tank and empower you to use your story to make a difference in the lives of others.

Growing up, I kept quite the assortment of diaries and journals.  This space is kind of like my journal, only no tween hormonal angst. On my blog, A Modern Grace, I chat about all sorts of things: food (hence my relationship with Weight Watchers), running, books, working in ministry, being Catholic, goings on in the culture, being emotionally healthy, dating, and being single.

Some of the conversations are more light and fluffy while others are more personal and vulnerable.

Currently I am working on paying off all my debt, training for my next marathon, practicing healthy dating, and learning to find grace in all things.

.
So fill your hand with something grand and stay awhile:)

  3. I love your dress! I just found your blog from another one and I love it! I'm looking at starting a blog, and also have started doing bible studies to help me understand the bible because I was raised not really knowing much about God or the bible.
